I definitely agree with RS 88's assessment that Gerardo Zaffino is the modern master of Conan. He's also just an overall modern master of the comic art form. Go check out Ryan's amazing Zaffino collection to let that be cemented in your mind.

This is one of the most incredible pieces I've ever seen in person from a raw power and energy standpoint. To be honest, I can't quite capture everything that is on the piece in the scan. It's all so subtle. I've had this for 3 years now and have been keeping it all to myself, but it is time to share it on CAF. Huge thanks to Cam for entrusting me with this one!

You've got almost all the pages to this issue. If it didn't belong with me it certainly belongs with you 😆

He is a modern master and his true skills never shine greater than when he's laying down inks on Conan. His ability to capture all those textured surfaces is otherworldly

Sick. Love the crushing visual weight of the foreground vs the ethereal skull in the back. 250lbs of barbarian wedged in the middle.

Phenomenal! Love this Conan cover by Gerardo Zaffino! It's a stunning display of Zaffino's extraordinary inkwork! Love the intricate crosshatching and deep rich blacks he used here! Zaffino's work gives the whole book a dark and moody and mysterious tone--Perfect for telling rough and gritty stories about the bloody Cimmerian! I just wish they'd hire Zaffino to be the regular artist for the whole book!
