DescriptionLast year, as I prepped for Dragon Con, a Marc Silvestri page showed up in the previews for the Heritage Weeklies.Being one of my top two X-Men artists, high on my list of must haves, and the Silvestri market seeming to move a leg up, I put an aggressive bid in when the auction opened with the intention of letting the chips fall where they may, as I'd be on the road to Dragon Con during the auction. In between putting in my top bid and hitting the road, I stopped in at New Jersey Comic Art Con and struck a deal for a memorable Silvestri page featuring Forge, Storm, & The Shadow King, completing my quest for an example, or so I thought... After a long day of driving, the day of the auction, I remembered my bid was in and wanted to see how much I missed the mark. My jaw dropped as I checked the auction to find that I won with a bid $37 short of my max bid. A little bit shocked, a little bit delighted, I remitted payment quickly so the page could make its way home. A really fun page as the Outback team comes home to the aftermath of Rogue throwing a temper tantrum after an episode of Carol Danvers took over her body. Silvestri dynamically pencils the team, while Dan Green (RIP) adds masterful inks to make the page seem cinematic. Very happy to have this great example of one of my favorite artists on my favorite book. Social/Sharing |

X-Ladies rule! They stir the pot and make pages like this possible. Full of long standing conflicts and relationships that allow the artists to bring soap opera expression into the work.

A favorite page of yours for so many reasons: the artist/era, the characters, the location, the costumes, the drama, Rogue in distress and Betsy in a towel. Absolutely awesome! And some great Colossus work as well. Plus it's from issue #244, maybe one day I will get one from this issue but so far it hasn't gone my way. Huge congrats! RIP to the X-tremely talented Dan Green!

Whew, talk about squeaking a win out! Big congrats, man, this is a great example from the run. Just LOVE those Silvestri lady faces. And you got 2 pages in the same week?! SCORE. Congrats!

Great pickup! Love all the different emotions on display here from Rogue, and having the word balloons really shows off the soap opera melodrama of the series. Congrats on eking out the auction win!
