DescriptionThis is something of a grail for me. A painted Glenn Fabry cover - and Preacher no less. (It was always going to be Preacher or Hellblazer and they don't crop up too often).I'd rather lost interest in comics in the mid-90s, for a number of reasons, but mainly because I felt that 2000ad was on the wane. I wondered where all my favourite artists and writers had gone. But then I came across Vertigo and there they all were, and Preacher brought me right back to loving comics again. An absolute riot. I know this isn't from the main run of monthly comics but I think this is Glenn at the peak of his powers, and what an image! All of Jesse's rage and hell-fire blazing in the background. Maybe that's the Angelville burning to the ground... Thanks to Andy Brown, it's gone to a loving home! Social/Sharing |

Great and thick fiery acrylic impasto that we couldn't see on the glossy Wizard #71 cover! Jesse looking for a fight!

I have always felt that Fabry truly personified the character, and this is better than some of the covers he did for the series. All are wonderful, but this is epic! Sincere congrats!

This is brilliant. Looks like Jesse's about to send out the Word (and maybe a good wallop) and whoever gets it is probably going to bear insult along with injury. That hellfire texture! Those sinewy hands. Definitely peak powers. Congrats!
