DescriptionThis page was published in October 1961, penciled by Gil Kane and inked by Joe Giella.Green Lantern is time-teleported to the year 5700 by members of a high council in order to battle a race of beaded-lizards known as Zegors. Since the time-pulse mechanism wipes out all existing memories, Hal is given a new persona as Pol Manning whose love interest is a woman named Iona Vane. After defeating the Zegors, he is teleported back to his own time which also restores his memories. Green Lantern’s adventures in the year 5700 would become a recurring theme with the next story coming just four issues later (#12). By that time, Iona’s affection for Hal has become real. This is a grail page for me. Green Lantern is my favorite character and issue 8 is my all-time favorite cover. The wash cover depicting GL engaging a Zegor is stunning. With five images of Green Lantern, two of Iona and one of a Zegor, this page has everything I could ask for. Social/Sharing |

Yeah, the coloring for that cover was out of this world awesome! You get the main players of this story in this page which is pretty impressive for rare DC large art!

The GL domino mask during this era was a unique look. Kane's art during the Silver Age was incredible, Giella, to me, muted the Kane style and vibrancy. Classic page. Congrats!

I'll second that, that Giella's inks muted the flair of Kane's pencils. Kane himself expressed dissatisfaction with the inkers who were often assigned to his work. (I'll have to disagree with him somewhat, as far as Sid Greene.)
This is a great Silver GL page, though, nice and large and clean, a flight panel, and a cast of thousands. Plus a great alien moster! My favorite Silver hero was Hawkman, with GL a very close second.

Wow! Very cool Green Lantern page! Great scenes of GL travelling through space. And I love that monster--The Zegor--in panel three! The charm of these Golden Age pages is hard to resist! Fantastic pick-up!

I really loved these early Green Lantern stories and this is a fondly remembered story line!
