DescriptionThe Allred run of Silver Surfer was one of those seminal works that to me, was nothing short of masterful. It captured not only my imagination but my heart. There was so much humanity in the story it made me laugh, anxious and even cry. In short, it was visual poetry. While a complete issue wasn’t in the cards, when Comic Art Live announced commissions from Mike, I had to take the plunge. The result was the gorgeous and dynamic scene you see here. Norrin together with his reflection aboard faithful Toomie, ripping the barrel of a cosmic energy wave emanating from the planet beyond. Thank you Mike, Laura and Simon.Social/Sharing |

Good waves! Good vibes! The Yin Yang philosophy of surfer and symbolism popularized by T&C Surf Shop may have also played a part to influence Allred.

Likewise, the philosophical aspects of him have always intrigued me & are one of the main reasons I continue to try and explore his character through these commissions. I checked out the T&C design like you mentioned, I think you might be onto something. My primary request from Mike was for a "reflection" narrative to the piece, hoping that he would apply that in more than just a visual sense. Maybe it says as much about myself as it does about the piece but I'm also an overthinker haha

Sublime stuff! What a quintessential image of Allred's SS - the cosmos, the swirling motion, the reflection...all makes for an outstanding image. Congrats, Justin!

Wow! What a stunning commissiion by Michael Allard of the Silver Surfer! I love Michael's depiction of Norrin Radd surfing the waves of cosmic energy, with stars and planets behind him. It's interesting that Michael took your suggestion of a "reflections" narrative literally. It certainly gives this piece a unique and unexpected twist. Awesome pick-up, congrats!
