Description

A great high point of Frazetta's comic art were his romance stories, which were inside not very-notable photo covers.

Frazetta had been hired to redraw Wally Wood's story "Came the Dawn" for EC's Picto-Fiction line, but that was abandoned when that line went defunct.

Here at my suggestion, Chris has done a mashup of PERSONAL LOVE trade dress from Famous Funnies, and an illustration by Frank Frazetta of Wallace Wood's "Came the Dawn" - 18" x 24" on Bristol board. I also suggested that the trade dress use the title of one of the stories that Frazetta drew "Too Late For Love" and that issue number, which is what Chris did.

Chris suggested the the unfinished panel that I suggested was too wide for proper use, "as is" and recommended cropping the panel as he has done here. In addition to recreating Frazetta's ink line, he also extended inking to parts of the woman's hair that were only in pencil, or had not been drawn at all.

I am very pleased with the result.

Kohler does the job with precision and boldness to present the glamor and glitz in this seductive look.

Interesting idea and it looks good with the logos and words. The image is clearly that of Frazetta but the inking is in a completely different style and lets the artist add thier own personality to the piece. Imagine if Frazetta had inked this as a finished cover piece wtih his fine inking...the mind reels.
