Description

Commissioned at NYCC 23, this was a fun piece that I had thought about for years. I was a Big fan of the Micronauts toy line and comic from their beginnings. Of the initial 12 issues that Michael Golden drew of the series one of the things I looked forward to each month was which new character or vehicle based on the toy line would be introduced. It was quite few issues before Prince Argon was shown to be the Force Commander, based on the toy. And after Golden left drawing the interiors, he still had a chance to draw alien Micronauts Repto and Antron on a few later covers. But one character he didn't have a chance to draw was Pharoid, one of the popular figures from the toys. This character was later introduced in the book when Pat Broderick was drawing it. So I always wondered how Golden would have drawn that particular character. I approached him with the idea at the convention with the vintage figure in hand for reference. Golden liked the idea of him wearing the Egyptian head dress that mirrored the figure's sarcophagus. I was thrilled with the final results that fulfilled a childhood dream!

Golden maxxed out on this one! You can't make it any bigger in size and in presence.
