DescriptionHalloween adds continue! Earlier this week, a werewolf, now a vampire – uber evil Cap baddie, Baron Blood!I’ve become a big fan of German’s and at Heroes Con last year was looking forward to meeting him in person for the first time. Super nice guy, conversational, more than willing to answer my questions, it was great. And I decided to go with a color bust commission, as I’ve gotten a full figure one from him before. But what character? I have a running list of options but didn’t have something specific in mind for him. So we narrowed. He said he likes to draw villains, so we’re gonna go that way. And I was thinking a villain he hadn’t drawn before. Quite separately at that same show I brought my Peach Momoko cover with me to take a pic with her and chat for a minute, which I was lucky to do. And the cover recalled the GREAT All-New Cap run (where Falcon takes on the Cap moniker) where Immonen was on art. Check it out if you haven’t. But there’s a killer aerial fight scene between Sam and Baron Blood, and the cover I have by Peach is a bust image of Sam (https://www.comicartfans.com/gallerypiece.asp?piece=1881940) so I thought , “OK, that’s it! Bust shot of Baron Blood to kind of mirror.” And here we are. Great color rendering throughout, and German could really enhance the tones and gradients when dealing with more solid colors in the costume. Evil grin, blood dripping, and I thought that red and black splotchy background was perfect. Almost like a blood spatter mixed with Kirby Krackle :) Social/Sharing |

Another great Halloween add. Can't wait to see your next one. Linus and Elvira. Will this be the year he finally sees the great pumpkins?

This is terrific, Kahlil! The decision to use so much pink was quite a bold one! I love that he treated the character like a vampire SHOULD be handled, violently bloodthirsty! Maybe I've simply forgotten, but all my memories of the character are of him having the sharp fangs, but never being seen actually using them wit hblodd dripping from his latest meal. So this piece makes up for that in a big way! Kudos!

Ha ha, yes. Maybe BB's thought was "I'm such an evil dangerous dude I'm going to prove how much by picking...not the most evil dangerous color scheme for my look!" :) I didn't think about never seeing actual blood but you're right - don't remember that, either, though I'm not super familar with all the books he's been in. Here Cap might have arrived just a little late for the chap that was just snacked upon, but you know a throwdown's imminent! Thanks, man, and all, for the comments!

Got a Marvel CAF day
In commission line for Peralta
He was a-sitting there a-showin' me
Blood that made my mouth water
So I started walking away
It's Baron with a Bloody face
And I knew, yes I knew I should leave
But Peralta say, yeah
Get a little Peralta
You're my kind of fang
So pink and so strong
Get a little Peralta
I'm all alone
And with you art belongs
So I'm startled entranced
In my arms, art felt so enticing
And I just couldn't resist
Just one vampire's kiss, so exciting
Then I heard German Peralta say
"For you, Khalil discount pay"
And I knew, yes I knew I should run
But then Peralta say, yeah
Get a little bite vampire
You're my kind of fan
You get for a song
Commission a Peralta
I'm all alone
Waiting list is not long

German does great color commissions, and this is a prime example. Congrats on picking this up.

Bloody awesome, as the Brits would say. :) I really did. Kelly leaned into the whore, with all that blood, and him licking his teeth. The gory blood Krackle and spatter is a great choice. Halloween Approved!

Any time I see Baron Blood it takes me back to my childhood when I first saw him on the cover of Invaders issue 7. Captain America barely survived that encounter. It was not the last time he fought the Baron either as John Bryne revisited the encounter in Captain America issue 254.

Never read Invaders 7, before my time, but I'm very familiar with Cap 253 and 254. Read them well after release, but what a great 2 parter, story and art-wise. The 254 cover is seared into many of our brains! And Bryne...that guy just made his stamp on so many characters, eh?! When I think Byrne I think Hulk first, but for others, take your pick! Thanks for the add, man, and glad this one took you back - always a good feeling with this stuff.

You know, there are some villains who are tragic characters, and their appearances often herald a moving, very human story that uses the very conceit of good/evil or hero/villain to spotlight our choices and the ramifications they inevitably have...
...And then there's Baron Blood. :) Unapologetically a NAZI VAMPIRE, brash and bold and loving life (or undead life, which, he'll have you believe, is WAY better). Talk about bold colors and a brash attitude! German really knocked this one out of the park, K! Great grab (and congrats on having what sounds like a fun conversation with him)! Fantastic piece!

Lol! No doubt. Right with the Red Skull.
Because of the All New Cap run featuring Immonen on art duties (Immonen - you heard o' that dude, rigtht?), I think of BB is to Sam Cap as RS is to Steve Cap. In both instances, you're talking about the goodest of the good guys vs the baddest of the bad. ZERO grey here.
Thanks, man!

This one scares me! On the other hand, the blue and purple colors bring me joy. I may need to double my therapy this week.
