DescriptionI was saving to share on May 4th, but since it debuted in Sketchbook a couple of months back, I want it up in my gallery this year. I have complicated feelings about Vader. It was such a bitter sweet and "uplifting" moment when he hurls The Emperor and then dies making peace with Luke. The music and the years of buildup were on point. Great ending. But then George had to go and muck around in 05'. I've enjoyed a lot of the SW content to come out since the original trilogy, but Anakin killing younglings has always bummed me out. Just wish he didn't do that. I know killing adults v kids is splitting hairs, but we all have to draw the line somewhere. When I see a cool Vader image, I try to think of the Vader I knew in 83'. Sort of like how I can look at pics of an old girlfriend before her "dark side" became fully known to me.I was looking for a nice Massafera piece for a while and getting a little worried over the upward pressure on his price point. Red and black make sure a powerful color pairing. Especially with something like this. A beautiful illustration that is beautifully showcased.

But what did you think of Rogue One Vader? A fully formed nightmare boogeyman of the Empire like the main character of a slasher movie. Having his castle at Mustafar included fits right into the black and red aesthetic. The color frame within a frame with the column composition is pretty amazing.
