I think he could have went a day or two with just panels of her dancing before we got back to the regularly planned story. Her pointing the gun must have given readers back then a gasp showing she's a take charge bad girl.

She was introduced as a beautiful dancing girl in the previous daily, no doubt leading readers to believe she would be the next damsel in distress for the series, only to tune in the following day and see she was just the opposite of that, a Femme Fatale!

I've always loved the complexity of Burma and I actually love this strip as much as her introduction. Caniff breathed life into these characters...I mean look at the attitude and posture of Burma in panel four! Reading these four panels transports you to a faraway place, like watching a classic movie. Congratulations on being the curator of these museum quality pieces of comic history!

Caniff brought in Burma hot and softened her over time, but never strayed too far from her origins.
