DescriptionTough to overstate how much I admire the work of J.H. Williams. He is one of those rare “every part of the buffalo” artists that uses all the tools and techniques available in the medium of comics for the sake of telling the most immersive story he can in a way that is impossible in any other art form. In this double page spread Batwoman has her own rendering style (strong spotted blacks combined with a wash) and also her own panel style/design with sharp angles that echo the bat emblem of her costume. She is confronting a supernatural villain with water powers who is rendered in a more ethereal wash style and has fluid like panel borders that wash away Batwoman’s panel style as she attacks our hero. These things are the reason I love comics so much! Thanks to Dueling Dealers and Anthony for wheeling and dealing with me on this one! Social/Sharing |

Williams was amazing on this series. The page and panel designs follow and are enhanced by the beautiful artwork. Stunning page!

Thanks! I love all of his work but Batwoman is definitely my favorite to revisit so I'm exceptionally happy to have a dps from it!

Outstanding mix of storytelling and design...a real ethereal quality that's gotta be that much better to see and feel in person. Congrats, Chris!

It is great to see this page. I gave up reading comics for wo decades, and when I saw the artwork from this Bat Woman series in a thrift store bin, I was pulled right back into reading and loving them. These unique pages paired with those dreamy watercolours, they stand out as something very special (which we might not see again). Thanks for sharing this with us on CAF!
