DescriptionAnother page from a great issue, this one featuring Spidey (it is his book after all).And no, that's not a typo. I meant to write "Doctor Octoball" ... as in Doctor Octoball, a demon from Limbo who, along with five other demons, were transformed into the wonderfully creepy-crawly "Insidious Six" waaaay back in (vol 6) issue #17. The other members of this Sinister Six spin-off are the Grave Goblin, Kraken The Hunter, Rhiceratops, Lizarro and the Gorepion. A few days ago I posted the two pages right before this one, where the star of this particular story line -- REK-RAP! -- meets up with Spidey, who shows his disgruntlement by flinging Rek-Rap onto the rooftop. As page 13 ends, Rek-Rap points towards Spidey, exclaiming "AND WHO NEEDS THAT MANY EYEBALLS!" He is of course referring to the menacing Doctor Octoball, who has appeared behind Spidey, which is the first panel of this page (Look at his Doc Ock hair! Haha!!) And it's on!! Social/Sharing |

Is it me, or is the Spidey-verse getting weirder and weirder? LOL! Anyway, congrats on yet another fun-tastic McGuinness page.

Man, can this series get any more zany? Given all the other characters created for the Insidious Six, I'm kind of surprised that Octoball doesn't have 8 testicles! But I guess then it would be too easy for Spidey to defeat him by kicking him in the nuts....

Did Spidey find himself on the set to "Big Trouble in Little China"?! Time to team up with Jack Burton!

I like spidey's face in the first panel. You can tell that he's asking himself how he got into this mess underneath the mask. Very fun when McGuinness' imagination can run wild. He's designed some weird looking charactes back in his Superman days, but it takes some balls to design Doctor Octoball.

Well that name totally makes sense to me because right when I saw that top panel I thought "Madballs" :) IDK, maybe Ed got some design inspiration from them wacky '80s toys. But I love it, man. Just some off the wall fun, and you can tell that Ed's having a blast drawing this stuff. So much energy! Congrats!

Hahaha, I just googled "Madball toys" because I had never heard of them. And wow, they are something else! I LOVE them! I totally get your point about Doctor Octoball perhaps being inpsired by those creepy crazies. And you nailed it about Ed having a blast drawing all this stuff. I know for a fact that he's having the time of his life, even with the hectic deadlines, and yeah, the energy just shines through. Thanks for the comment!

It wouldn't surprise me to find out that Doctor Octoball is related to MODOK. It would be great for them to team up to take on Spidey! Another cool McGuinness page for you!!!

You shake my nerves and you rattle my brain;
Too much love drives a ball insane!
You broke my will, but what a thrill!
Goodness gracious, great balls of fire!
Hit it, Paul!!!
