DescriptionHappy New Year everyone! I decided to start 2024 with a bang!I was so thrilled to get this page. (Thanks PA!) Although Scott Lang appears in costume on the first three pages of the issue, it's one of those "Let's start right in the middle of the action and explain things later" tropes. Cuz starting on page 4 we get the flashback story that leads to Scott breaking into Cross Technological Enterprises. He hopes to be able to steal something of value and ends up discovering Hank Pym's Ant-Man suit and helmet, which he puts on for the FIRST TIME on this very page!! Woo hoooo! It's a great scene, and very reminiscent of the Ant-Man movie when Paul Rudd, all dressed in black, breaks into Hank Pym's house and runs a gauntlet in order to finally come across the suit that he will eventually put on in his bathroom with comical (and cool CGI) results. Thanks for looking! And don't worry -- Rek-Rap will be back. I'm waiting on some pages from ASM 37 and 38, and they are fun! Social/Sharing |

Ooh, a Rep-Rak break to start 2024, and what a way to do it! Key first appearance moment for sure but also just love this page top to bottom in and of itself. I thought "Vigilante" for a sec with the silhouetted figure, which is cool, as the all black visual is arresting. But then, we get the big reveal of SL as the new A-M! Suh-weet, indeed. Congrats, Paul!

Man, what a gorgeous finished page of artwork, Paul! There are beautiful details in every panel of this thing, from the floor detailing in panel 1 (and reflections in panel 2), through the wall detailing in panel 3, through all the beautiful zipatone usage and backgrounds to that final, titanic panel. It's a fun "Scott at work" page, starting as a burglar and ending as hero. Forget about any decompressed storytelling here; it's pedal to the metal, damn the mosquitos time! Beautifully rendered and executed; fantastic storytelling! Congrats on a(nother!) incredible add, Paul, and a fantastic way to start a very Happy New Year!,
great storytelling,

Historic! However, I do think I see Rek-rap hiding in the pushes in the seventh panel.

Next to the Hulk Annual they did together, I love these two issues of Marvel Premiere that Byrne and Layton did. Honestly, I didn't even remember the historical significance, as I was so blown away by the artwork. Had a chance to buy the title splash to the second issue about a million years ago, but foolishly passed. Congrats on this amazing page! Love that last panel.

I love how the stealth costume allowed Byrne to spot some beautifully balanced blacks! The top two tiers of panels are actually the most eye catching, but then you have the long shot and cliseup of him in costume and they are things of beauty as well! Congrats, and Happy New Year!

Great combo of Byrne and Layton for a key story! Sharp and precise lines that were state of the art as the 80's were fast approaching! The date places this around the time of Uncanny X-Men #120 as some of Byrne's best time periods.

Nice page. I had no idea Scott Lang was made that long ago.

Yeah, Scott was first introduced just a month earlier in Avengers #181 as the new security technician & electronics expert for Avengers mansion, hinted by Stark International. His intro involved a classic Marvel misunderstanding involving Wonder Man.

Nothing beats the rush of slipping into another man's spandex suit for the first time. Where's my cigarettes? So much for my resolution. Thanks Paul.

Great page. Those 2 Ant-Man pages were gold! Layton's inks were meant for Byrne's pencils.

So cool to see this major moment in Ant-Man's history in it's original form! Beautifully drawn and totally sparked moments in the film.
