Description

This page was drawn by Bill Vidoga and inked by Mario Acqaviva (what a cool name) for the November 1967 issue of "CAPTAIN HERO". Now some (or most) of you probably aren't aware, but there was a time during the mid-1960's when the ARCHIE gang were super-heroes. Think of it as "What if..." or "Elseworlds" type stories, but they are out there.

Archie became "Pureheart the Powerful" by tapping into the "PH Factor"
Jughead became "Captain Hero" by reciting a magical incantation
Betty transformed into "Superteen" by twisting her ponytail
And Reggie would transform into "Evilheart the Mighty"

Even tho this page doesn't feature ANY of the characters in their hero form, it does have a super-villain and shows all the characters (Veronica, Betty, Reggie, Archie, Jughead, and even Pops)

And one last thing about the inker. Some of you may remember an american television show called Barney Miller. One of the actors on that show was named FISH and played by Abe Vigoda. That was the brother of penciller Bill Vigoda! What a cool family!

For parents who thought Marvel and DC superheroes were too intense for their kids! But it looks like the villain with the phallic emblem slipped a mickey into the drinks and the crew is hung over afterwards. Hardly something you teach kids.
