DescriptionTalking animals are not just for kiddies.Jack Kirby created a surreal riff on Planet of the Apes with Kamandi, the Last Boy on Earth, where there were talking apes, but also tigers, dogs, snakes, bats, lions, and many other species. One of his most fun creations was a post-apocalyptic New York City run by a society of rat pirates. Dave Sim created Cerebus, an aardvark barbarian wandering through a surreal landscape of corrupt politicians, warped religious leaders, and generally looney people. What happens when these worlds collide? I wondered, and Val Semeiks answered the question. Social/Sharing |

Great mash up of properties and genres! It's exactly the kind of zany that we wished would have occurred during the 70's! I think Semeiks drew this Cerebus from the earlier issues with the more angled snout and ears.
