DescriptionPublished 1976The Beasts Who Fought Like Men! written by Gerry Conway Queen Bee attacks Chicago with her swarm of bees, but Wonder Woman and Supergirl (and Black Canary) are there poised to stop her. It's woman on woman violence and Queen Bee is going down for the count! This issue features the second guest appearance by Supergirl in the JLA. I have to admit that I am not enamored by Gerry Conway's stories and the the art in this issue was not up to Dick Dillin's usual standards. But hey, It's a rare Supergirl crossover. Social/Sharing |

Almost didn't see Canary. Must of been the jet. On a sad note, this is the issue where Canary's scream is referred to as Canary's song. I prefered the old sonic whammy. Not enough whammy in comics anymore.

How you doing honey Miki?
You know I don't ask for bugs, but
Supergirl spending time alone can bee pretty rough
But I get Amazon my door
You know it's war for sure
We can't wait for McLaughlin
So we just Dillin more
Is y'all alright?
I don't know but I know what's happening to Queen, girl
Is y'all alright?
Uh, break it down now
Is y'all alright?
I don't know but I know what's happening to Bee, girl
Is y'all alright?
Uh, break it down now
Queen you gotta work it out
Bee you gotta work it out
Surrender gotta work it out
Lance, blow your song now

What a great page! Dillin was known work on mutiple comics per month. He holds the DC record for 120 straight issues without missing a deadline. One would be hard pressed to think of an artist who did the laborious work of a team book for as long as DD.
I love the "Sears" sign on the building.

I don't think McLaughlin did any favors to Dillin's art on this particular page. Nice to have a 2/3 splash page with 3 women ready to fight.

I've always enjoyed Dillin's artwork. Now with Wonder Woman, Supergirl and the Invisible Jet in a 2/3 splash. Awesome!

Little better than a page with a 2/3rds splash of 70s Wonder Woman and Supergirl. Really great.
Thanks for sharing.

Yes, the figure work in particular is quite stiff, especially Wonder Woman, but nevertheless, the content is great!
