DescriptionEven though I make fun of how the ending didn't quite stick the landing, I was a rabid follower when Our Worlds At War was coming out in the various Superman titles. as a frequent Wednesday Warrior at the now defunct Comics Ink shop on Overland in Culver City, I anticipated each chapter from week to week! In my mind, the event was a perfect showcase for Superman taking on all comers in battle if anything else!The cover features a majestic image of Superman (one knee up!) atop the rubble of the toppled monument to the ruler of Apokolips, Darkseid! Sweet cover Derek! I love the way Superman stands victorious over a toppled statue of the tyrant Thanos! ummm... I mean Darkseid!

Such a great cover, man! I'm a sucker for high contrast work and just looking at the thumbnail, this could very well have been Mignola. Fantastic work by Doug!

A cover featuring Superman standing triumphantly atop the toppled statue of Darkseid? Count me in! Congrats on getting your 2nd Superman cover! So fortunate that the inks appear to be minty fresh, too, as Mahnke used bad quality markers for a time and tons of his originals are now fading into oblivion. A friend of mine has an entire portfolio filled with them!
