Grimwood�s Daughter is a wonderful fantasy � elves valiantly fighting to keep their foothold in a world overrun by the contagion known as Man. Yet in spite of the darkly fatalistic tone of the story, there is room for hope, for optimism. Jan Strnad�s tragic story and Kevin Nowlan�s beautiful artwork made this an instant favourite!

Great page hightlighted by the sense of defeat that Nowlan is able to bring out in the pose and the graphic nature in panel 3. It is followed up by the resigned surrender in the close up and the feeling of helplessness to be in such a small scale in the final panel.
