DescriptionSecond of 2 BP posts today which I picked up from Josh Cassara at OAX! Was great meeting him and his wife at there…looking forward to chatting up more with them at the next!BP takes it to the streets. In this series, the OG Marvel Knights heroes basically forgot they were heroes, but it slowly comes back to ‘em. This issue features BP’s story, and “John” realizes he’s truly T’Challa, then dons this street level look to do his duty and take out some bad guys. Was just flipping through Josh’s portfolio, which had a nice batch of older stuff, this page among them from late 2018. In the page prior BP suits up (see that page in additional images – lemme know if anyone’s got a line on it!) and here he goes on the hunt. Nice top to bottom storytelling with BP on the sneak and got them sweet subtle greys Josh does. And I like pages where a character announces themselves like T’Challa does in panels 5 and 6 here. Lastly, check out the mask he designed. Josh joked “You know that book Something Is Killing The Children? You know which book came out first?” :) Thanks, Josh! Social/Sharing |

The stars will come out
And they know what you're about
'Cause they couldn't match the glow of Josh lines
And, oh, who am I?
John anniversary guy
Climbing walls to win me first prize
Oh, Black Panther
He got mask from Cassara
The Killer from there, girl, Ms. Slaughter
Where the art is fresh and clean
Hmm, Wakanda
Just take the fans, and I'll lead ya
I promise Knights will be better
As Orlando in my dreams

Oh shit, a Something Is Killing The Children crossover! I would've bought this page for that alone!

The panel layout here is just wonderful, with that long vertical being the star of the show. Makes for a great interior!

Is this story from the "Covid Adventures of Kahlil Gearon"? The one where you ran around the city in Black Panther Covid mask??? I'd read it!

The mask part...maybe. The running around on rooftops, climbing up walls...yeah...not sure if yours truly'd be doing that, lol! I know I could open a door like he does in the last panel, though. I could handle that :)
Thanks, Johnny, and all, for the comments!

Oh man! This belongs in your collection. I was thiiiiiiiis close to buying it once upon a time, and I am kicking my former self for choosing something else from Josh. I guess it's easy to get distracted when you're looking at pages that are all home runs. Congrats.

I can't say I'm bummed you didn't pick it up, Kevin, lol. However, 'tis here on CAF for alls us to view! And WORD as far the "home runs" comment...wasn't easy for me to narrow down either at OAX. Lotsa bangers. But you know me and BP :) Thanks for the add!

Fantastic page! That is one scary homemade mask! At first I thought that character was the villain that BP was up against, but then I read your description. Interesting Marvel Knights premise with the heroes having to remember who they really are. I'll need to re-read those books. Anyway, great grab!

This Marvel Knights was on my "to read" list but now that I see BP is in it... I'm going to have to bump it up. Cassara's art looks great! Did you pick up the previous page as well?

This was from an older miniseries, starting in late 2018 then into 2019, so yeah, I'd check it out. Was a fun read! This issue was one of the best IMO...no bias :) I did not pick up the page prior as Josh didn't have it in his portfolio, but trust, I am inquiring! We shall see. Thanks for the add, Victor!

The page layout moves the story along so well! I love the broken window panel. Great idea to highlight the character.

I missed the memo about it being Black Panther week. Congrats on another great addition to the collection. The layout really stands out on this one with lots of action.

Yowza! What a killer page. The whole page is very cinematic as we follow T'Challa as he's tracking a man. The panels are like frames from a movie. We follow T'Challa every step of the way, Beautifully composed and superbly drawn. The panels are nice detailed to create a sense of believability. The inks are spot on and there's a nice amount of black to ground the scenes. Fantastic pick-up, congrats!

A really cool page with great camera movement and action! And that's pretty damning about the mask!

The "unarmored" BP is really appealing to me. Harkens back to the days before he was encased in Vibranium and had to use his brains/brawn/speed to get over on bad guys!
