Description

There were a series of short stories that were under the title "Batman Black & White" that were published in issues Gotham Knights. This one was illustrated by the talented John Bolton in a style miles away from his painted beauties.

SPOILER ALERT ON THE STORY!

The concept is that there is this guy who seems to be running a shady establishment in some basement somewhere...you see what appears to be Batman and Catwoman tied up and hanging from the ceiling. There is some dialogue which almost appears as internal dialogue. This guy goes about his shady business and interactions all the while mumbling how strange and creepy people are...blissfully unaware on how shady and creepy he and his situation seems. He references torturing Batman and Catwoman a bit by pouring gasoline in their eyes etc...

The guy lights up a cigarette and BOOMKABLAAAAMO!!!! The entire room blows up because hes stupid and forgot about the gasoline....you then learn that he had been talking to blow up dolls of Catwoman and Batman that he had tied up. It then ends with the real Batman and Catwoman arriving after the explosion and making some jokes at his expense.

An odd but funny little story illustrated by an artist of renowned...John Bolton!

This page has really heavy inks and sadly my scanner just kinda blanket blacks everything which really takes away from the texture and process of the page. Will have to re-visit this to try and get a better image up.

A piece of art that is screaming Bolton
A new comic thrill ink dipped up conceit
A story wailing, bondage from ceiling
The screech of strange and lamp light blinking

Bat's in a basement, Cat's in a basement

A smell of gas for the troubled recluse
An eccentric brain and then bound up not loose
Paint splattered walls and then tied up a tomcat
Lights going out and a kick in the balls

I tell ya Bat's in the basement, gas in the basement
