Description

Steve Rogers returns three years after�his death in Ed Brubaker's Captain America Reborn! The story features Steve trapped reliving his greatest battles and this double page splash of Cap versus the hordes of Hydra (and Madame Hydra in the background) is an homage by Bryan Hitch of the classic DPS by Jim Steranko (Captain America #110 from 1969)! Painstakingly penciled by Hitch on a large 22x18 single board and inked by the talented Butch Guice, this piece was in Hitch's personal collection until now. Special thanks to Bill Cox for helping me acquire this.��

Easy to see why Bryan had this in his personal collection! A fantastic composition, but it is truly Butch's sublime inking that put this one over the top. Incredible depth and detail everywhere you look, from Cap's scale-mail tunic, to the sheen on the Hydra goons' uniforms, to the roof, pipes... Heck, you even get Bucky (and a tiny Madame Hydra)...! And what an insane treat to see Hitch include the Steranko "uh-oh trouble" machine and weaponry. Awesome! Great visceral action in the bottom tier of panels, too, once that glorious establishing shot is out of the way and Cap can really get down to business... ;) Huge congrats here, Rick - what a score!
