Description

The art is mixed media (pencil, ink, acrylic) on 100% cotton illustration board.

Around 2 years ago, I asked Joshua if there's original art for the cover that could be purchased, because the cover looked so great. I was told there wasn't an original painting...Joshua explained to me "there was an original painting at one point - sort of: I had painted a batgirl face for a cover a year or two ago but decided to change it. Before I did, I scanned what I had in case I might use it elsewhere. Well, that's exactly what I did with the Mary Marvel cover. I found that old scan and finished painting the cover digitally. The face I had painted looked more like a Mary Marvel than batgirl in the first place."

Last month, during my video call with Joshua, while we were talking about my last commission Joshua kindly showed me several original art work in his drawer. I surprisingly found this piece lying in the drawer, like what Joshua mentioned 2 yrs ago, the face was painted, but most part of the hair and uniform were still unfinished. But he told me he decided to finish the piece and put it on to the table. Few weeks after, I got the email, sent an offer and got it. My batgirl has a new friend now :)

Joshua has many nice original art in his drawer, there's one more piece that I had been asking him for years to let me have it but he said maybe it would never leave his drawer. haha. lets see.

Awesome find! The halo of light around the gold color makes her sparkle with a look of bright optimism in this retro style!
