DescriptionSometimes it’s the small, unexpected things that can bring joy… I’ll stop there before sounding too much like a hallmark card. Late afternoon on Saturday at SDCC, a bit shagged and overwhelmed by the sheer size of the event, I found myself at a dealer’s table – they had the first two issues of Animation, then a new magazine for sale. “You get a free sketch if you buy those,” came the voice behind the table. I immediately recognised Don Bluth, whose photo, taken with a very young Shannen Doherty (pre 1982) I’d just been looking at. Such a fan of animation was I, he soon had payment for the two, and a subscription for the coming year! We had a lovely conversation as he completed the promised drawing you see here!Social/Sharing |

Awesome find! Some days you're just wandering at the con and the art finds you! Bluth is an animation legend and a risk taker that influenced the medium by his successes and failures. Anastasia is certainly one of his best and this sketch brings that 90's old school animation feel.
