Description

This interesting piece of pencil art by the famous Joe Bennett was a new concept design piece that he did as part of a pitch to Marvel’s editor in 1995. The designs were a big departure for the standard look that Conan had developed for decades, but it is great to see this very 90s, almost Image comics take on the Hyborian hero. It’s no surprise that Joe did work on Image comics Prophet, which bears a striking resemblance! The editor approved the design concepts, and they can be seen in Joe Bennett’s run in the Conan comic series that started in 1994. Signed, dated and noted by Joe Bennett at the bottom of the page, which is standard 11x17 bristol illustration board.
