Description

I got this Alex Ross original sketch when I attended Lake Como Comic Art Festival as a VIP. This is a prelim for an alternate version of the cover to Astro City (2013) #33. I find it an interesting insight into the process Mr. Ross goes through when creating a cover. I am including the published cover to Astro City #33 so you can see the changes he made from this alternate version.

The piece is 9" x 12", graphite on vellum, with the front half of the face actually drawn on a separate piece of paper which has been affixed to the sketch with double-sided tape (visible through the back of the sketch)--another interesting bit of process insight! All of the art is original.
