Julie Smith Pin-up ** Olivia De Berardinis, 2000. Recreated for Playboy July 2008

This is the original watercolor and gouache painting for created in 2000 of Julie Smith. (Julie was Introduced to Olivia by her dear friend the late Julie Strain). Just a beautiful nice size painting of this gorgeous Penthouse Pet and pinup Model.

Hefner loved the images by Olivia during this prime period and hired Olivia to work monthly for Playboy.
Olivia was creating an image a month!
Olivia recreated a few of her earlier loved images in her cartoon "Vargas/Elvgren/Petty" style for Playboy but, this one is a PURE Olivia creation.
Not that I don't love the Playboy images by Olivia! I do, I mean who doesn't?! I own several, but she was doing them purposely in the style of other artists commissioned for Hefner and Playboy specifically. When one looks at Olivia's body of work there is no doubt Playboy immediately comes to mind. But images like this and "Gypsy" in my gallery are primarily what I seek out and prefer, rather than a recreation or piece meant to be like another artist.

The Playboy rework of this image was published July 2008. I have attached it. It is super cute.

Frame Measures Approximately 25.75in X 26.75in. Image Measures Approximately 17.75in X 18.75 in in sight. Probably a 20 x 20 board. Signed and dated Olivia 2000 in the Lower Right Corner.
