DescriptionIn my comic book 'golden years' (1986-1988) there were a few key series being released that captured my imagination, Crisis on Infinite Earths, Official Handbook of the Marvel Universe, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, The Dark Knight, and Who's Who. These books took a kid who loved to draw and was a casual fan into a lifelong comics enthusiast. Growing up with artwork by George Pérez, John Byrne, Walter Simonson, Frank Miller and Howard Chaykin (MY mt Rushmore) was invigorating. Their love for creating comics, their skill, and audacity held no bounds, and continues to influence comics to this day. I feel fortunate to have had that experience. Buying this Who's Who page was a real treat. George Pérez's Wonder Woman was beautiful, powerful, mythic and was an exciting take on a classic character. It's a great piece of comics art, the overlay is drawn on vellum, and as you'll see by the included original printed page, the background was 'knocked out' and printed in a separate color, which is why it's drawn on a separate sheet of paper. Lots of cool OA stuff here, white out, some yellowing, some aging, a true artifact by a master. I'm posting this on what would have been George's 70th Birthday. I wish he was still around. One of the greatest ever.Social/Sharing |

The work Perez did for the books were the new style guides for the post Crisis DC. None better than Wonder Woman who's title he would go on to launch!

An absolutely stunning piece of work. Rarely, if ever, has Wonder Woman looked better or more beautifully illustrated. Incredible rendering and the ink just jumps off the vellum. Kudos on such a fine acquisition, Chuck!

Yowza! What an iincredible pair of Wonder Woman illustrations! George Perez was unquestionably one of the great WW artists of all time. His Wonder Woman was beautiful but strong and powerful. He also made her believable and relatable. He never turned he into a sex object. I loved his work on the title and these two illustrations that you show here are fantastic examples of how Perez combined the mythology of her birth and her heritage with the realities of living in today's world. Perez had an extraordinary run on the title. Congrats on picking up these two fantastic pieces of art.
