DescriptionBetty & Veronica Double Digest #147 CoverPencils by Jeff Shultz Inks by Jon D'Agostino Written by Fernando Ruiz Nothing much to see here, just Ronnie being Ronnie on a B&V Double Digest cover issue from the 2000s (2006). These little digest books were fun, filled with mainly re-prints of older stories, but also an original story. I had a box full of them (in pretty horrible condition mostly, as these were actually read by people) at one point, but now only kept the ones I have artwork from. This one has a 6 page original called "High Seas Hijinks", where Mr. Lodge tells Veronica and her friends about how the Lodge family came to the New World. This is also what the cover image/scene is referring to. A nice little history lesson about the Mayflower at Riverdale Museum :) - interestingly "Riverdale" is missing the "R" in the original art and they added it in digitally for publishing. Anyway I picked this up for like $70 at a show several years ago (maybe a Big Apple Comic Con?...or a NJ Comic Art Con?...to be honest I lost track of it), stuffed it into a portfolio and forgot I ever had it! Until now when I grabbed a scan. Fernando Ruiz wrote the 6 page story, I can't know for sure that he also wrote the dialogue on the cover scene, but I've credited him anyways. It might've been Shultz or D'Agostino but I really have no way of checking. Fun low key Archie art has been a way for me to feed my art collecting fun without hurting the wallet, during times of cutting back on spending in the hobby (and in general). Still enjoy adding a piece from time to time, although I've slowed down on doing that as of late. Social/Sharing |

Fun pickup for not too bad of a cost. I really enjoyed these books growing up.

This a cool pick up and great value for the money spent. Everytime I see cover like this it always reminds me of the time of reading old Archie comics.

Fun stuff! I've always said that some of the best value for your original art collecting dollar is provided by Archie art! Too bad you forgot you even owned it though. 😂
