Description

I was saving the first page of this Disney sketchbook for a Mickey Mouse sketch, but I wanted to find an appropriate artist - not just anybody.

When I realized that Chris Uminga had done plenty of official work for Disney, including drawing The Fab Five, I knew I had found that artist.

I love this piece as it captures both the essence of classic Mickey, but also Chris's personal style. And he even gave me color when he originally thought he wouldn't be able to!

It's tough to find artists for this book, but I now have three sketches in it, so please check out the others in the gallery!

I really haven't seen a Mickey this good in a long time. Everyone else would try to emulate an established line. Uminga makes the round shapes 3D and with weight through the shading and the muted colors.
