Description

I was reading Green Lantern when Kevin O'Neill did a few backup features (often with another British madman Alan Moore as writer), and my young mind was thoroughly blown by his twisted, intricate (baroque?) scribblings. I was also reading Omega Men when O'Neill drew a remarkable issue or two. There were rumored problems with the Comics Code Authority due to the perceived disturbing (violent?) content. In retrospect, much like Bill Sienkiewicz on New Mutants around this same time, the art was probably a bit too outr� for conventional tastes, including my own. But over the years, I have grown to really appreciate this highly detailed work. In my opinion, League of Extraordinary Gentlemen vol.1 was a pinnacle for Moore and O'Neill. Unfortunately LOEG pages are probably out of my price range, but getting this is a nice consolation. The page shows group leader Primus undergoing a deadly test in the underground city of Okaara and features some trademark O'Neill spiky menace threatening to condemn our hero to an unpleasantly gruesome demise.

KO made everything her worked on memorable. I recall after seeing his work in Omega Men wishing that he would be the regular artist. he gave the series the bite it really needed. Great get.

O'Neill gets his horror on with the supernatural patterns and grossout hellscape weirdness! The baxter paper captures every detail of this in the book to make black and white contrasts much more defined and delineated.
