DescriptionSuperman from James Gunn’s Superman by Dan JurgensSuperman is a character who has always meant so much to me. He is a helper, who radiates kindness, and truly is the first superhero. The first comic I ever received from my mom was a “DC Blue Ribbon Digest of Superman vs. The Aliens”. Christopher Reeves performance as Superman and Clark Kent left an indelible impression with me as child. The Kenner “Super Powers” Superman action figure was played with for endless hours allowing me to save the day many times over. I was around for the “Death”, “The Reign of”, and the “Return of Superman”. I saw him with long hair, electric powers, with capes and no capes. Even saw his “Secret Identity”, as an “All-Star”, his “Birthright”, through “For All Seasons” all the way to “Kingdom Come”. There was even the time I saw him sport an armored, collared, costume for a while. He is a character who brings me such joy and comfort. Whose unapologetic kindness and heroism exemplifies what comic character can do. When I made Dan’s 2024 Heroes Con Commisison list my character request was Superman, but I specified it being from James Gunn’s upcoming film adaptation of Superman. I really like costume design and the tone of the first image made me very excited to see James and David Corenswet’s take on Clark. And as the artist who I most associate with Superman I desperately wanted to see Dan’s take on it as well. Despite only having the single promotional image to work off of Dan did a wonderful job with this. This will be inked by Brett Breeding in the next couple of months and I can’t wait to see the final version. Social/Sharing |
