DescriptionPublished 1999 by Cross Plains Comicswritten by Roy Thomas Cross Plains Comics was formed to publish the works of Robert E. Howard in comic form. Marvel had stopped publishing Conan and Red Sonja but did not want to give up the rights to publish Conan. So Cross Plains published other works by Robert E. Howard including Red Sonja. Unfortunately the company did not last and after publishing this one issue of Red Sonja and a few other comics, it dissolved. In this issue Sonja goes looking for the murderers of her family and on this page, she confronts the merchant who profited from the crime. I was a big fan of Steve Lightle and I felt at the time that this was his best work. Social/Sharing |

Beautiful page! It's a shame that they never published the second issue which I know Lightle at least started work on.

Clever page layout that is wonderfully drawn by a talent we lost way too soon. Love the way he uses the curtain to break the panel and even offsets the other small panel to lead the viewers eye.

All of us Lightle fans loved his Red Sonja work and it really was a shame that the publisher went under so quickly.
