DescriptionIn 1863 William Paterson opened the first Biscuit and confectionery factory in Brantford Ontario,Canada. He became known locally as the candy man. He was a real promoter of his candy, first issuing chocolate bars with hockey player cards. The set of 40 sold for $136,000 a few years ago. Then later he issued baseball cards in his chocolate bars of which the set of 50 contains over half the players now being in Baseball's Hall of Fame. In 1927 his son took over the business through 1931 when it was sold to another candy maker. I am thinking this box is circa.1931. Its sides are decorated with great small figures of Mickey and Minnie Mouse, Horace Horsecallar, Pluto, and Clarabelle Cow. Box is 4" long. Brantford, Canada origin, made by Paterson. Once contained 1 1/2 oz. of Carmel Nougat Chocolate. Hakes once sold a larger box of these same bars.Social/Sharing |
