DescriptionLast post was a big check off the collector checklist with an early Cassaday Astonishing X-Men page and I’m keeping the theme going here, this time going back to the ‘80s. Always wanted a WCA page with the whole team, from the first 17 issues of the ongoing series, and here we are. Saw it posted on Sunday of this last May’s CAF Live by Mike Burkey and I immediately jumped at it!The closer was that fifth panel – the whole team seeing Ben off. He had been a member of the team in prior issues but like he says in panel 2, he had to go. Gotta love the last panel caption…knowing the kind of guy Ben is, you can absolutely see it :) Again, great shots of every team member in panel 5, with the Silver Centurion Iron Man front and center. As a kid I got handed a comic stack of WCA 1-17 and Iron Man 200-215 and read and reread and reread ‘em. Nostalgia runs HIGH in these books. Lastly, ain’t that just a purty head shot of Bobbi in panel 4?! Hope y’all like, and to quote Clint here, “BEST OF LUCK” in hittin’ those collector targets, my friends! Social/Sharing |

DUDE this is an awesome West Coast Avengers page! Love the combo of Milgrom and Sinnott, the final few panels at the bottom of the page are just perfect. Congrats on getting something with so much personal nostalgia value!!!

An end to Ben's run and a wonderful end of issue page to tick a few more boxes for your collection. Congrats.

I mean, you can kinda see why they're the B team if they can't recognize Ben in a trench coat...
Excellent page! Congrats!

great page, you for sure got exactly what you were looking for. I took read this series and loved it, I also read alot of the Avengers Spotlight as well. I think that last pages and title pages with letter are always such great ones to get ahold of.

Forgot to mention that in the description, but totally agree - these older last page pieces are great for all that back-end preview and cliffhanger lettering! One this one, 4 distinct captions on why you should tune in next month :) Thanks, Brian, and all, for the comments!

A fan sits down to read
He says, "Why do I love all the Marvel now?
All that I love in the panel
The rest of my life is for art
I need an artdrop opportunity
I want Thing art for collection
Don't want to end up with Doc Doom
In an artroom graveyard"
Art dealer, Art dealer
Shot in the spotlight
Got a page, I love so more
Mr. Mike Burkey, West Coast team
Get Sinnott to ink for me
You know, I will find this stuff amusing evermore
If he'll leaves this story arc
Thing can be their long lost pal
They can call him Benji
And KG, who would draw these?
You can call up Al

That last verse is fire, man! You continue to marvel (pun!) with the continued quality and quantity of these lyrical epithets, Marcus! Thanks!

Any page with Snorek lurking in the background is worth picking up! I agree, there is so much to look at and the 5th panel is epic. Such a classic Sinnott feel to this one. And Al Milgrom ain't too shabby himself.

Yeah, man, I enjoyed Al's stuff on this book lots. WCA and Spectacular Spider-Man - those are my Milgrom books. BUT, for the former, Sinnott inks were just as important, in some instances even more so, as far as the final art. And you got a few commenters here saying the same thing. Again, just look at Bobbi's face in panel 4! Purrrrty. And any page with Snorek, right?! Thanks, man!

Dig it. All of it. The shadows, the lettering, the composition, the writing, and the characters.

While the 5th panel is obviously the money shot, I really love the first three panel sequence showing Ben in silhouette. As usual, Sinnott's inking is superb. But perhaps my favourite part of the page is Ben calling Clint "Cockeye"! Congrats on another nostalgia buy, Kahlil!

Pure nostalgia for you, so congrats :)
(As a kid/teen, I always HATED Milgrom's art, truth be told. As an adult (?), those Sinnott inks do a lot to make these pages look most agreable I confess).

A silhouetted Ben Grimm leads to a stellar team shot sending their regards. There is a proper sense of finality in this interior. The team panel is wonderful, but also love that final shot. I figure this is kind of what it looked like when you left Heroes on Sunday.

Great page, congrats! As a kid, I was rooting for Ben to join the WCA - Hawkeye almost filled the roster, but it wasn't meant to be

Wow what a fantastic page, clearly a winner with these emotional panels, great representation from the series and even better with the nostalgia it's clearly filled with.

Wow, I just love this page. The Thing standing mysteriously in the shadows and not offering much of an explanation for leaving, but the rest of the team being SO supportive of him in that second to last panel, and then the poignant last panel. And a great image of Tigra, which makes the page that much more special in my book :-) Major congrats, K!
