Description

Jaws is one of my favorite films.

Probably top 5 if I really think about it.

And of course, as I've discussed ad nauseam, I�m a big fan of Eric Powell and The Goon.

So, a page featuring the Goon vs. �Jaws�? A no-brainer. (Ok, just a regular �ol aggressive big shark, but still�)

Be careful at the beach, everyone. Last thing we need is a panic on the Fourth of July.

What an uppercut! Powell's mix of ink and wash with the thick lines puts weight and mass behind the punch with some Kirby power. Speaking of Kirby, are those rascal kids Powell's Goonboy Legion?

This is a great page from a great sequence of pages from an absolutely top notch issue of The Goon. The artwork on the series had been gradually evolving and improving over its run, and then when it got to issue 13 EVERYTHING clicked. The ink wash technique, the pacing, the plotting, all of it. It was a real breakthrough issue and my favorite of his run.
