Description

Beautiful full color cover page by Gürsel, made in Indian ink and watercolor paint and used as the cover for The Champions/Les Champions/Foot Furiex international books. The original art depicts the Netherlands national flag as used in The Champions but was changed to the France national flag for the French publication of Foot Furieux. The total size of the page is approximately 14.5x11”.

A celebration of the sport, the champions, and national pride exploding with joy! Gürçan finds the right tone of cartoony and respect for the cup. When it comes to this type of art in America, we can only compare it to the sports illustrations of Jack Davis.
