DescriptionAs a kid I frequently read war comics with my dad. I have owned a few Sgt. Rock and G.I. Combat pages through the years, but never one from a Haunted Tank story that included the general's ghost. This auction win from 2024 has finally scratched that nostalgia itch.Story recap leading up to this end page follows for any who care to read. With D-Day now behind them, the Haunted Tank is supporting the 28th Infantry Division on its march through the hedgerows of Normandy towards German-occupied Paris. Jeb is talking to a young Captain in the infantry, who tells him that as a farm boy he thought he'd never get the chance to see Paris, and that he had always dreamed of seeing Notre Dame. Jeb promises him that he'll get the chance. They are then surprised by an attack from the Germans, and the Captain is hit by an exploding shell and thrown from the side of the tank. Rick fires everything he's got into the Germans, destroying the cannons and ending the battle. With the Captain dead, Jeb has his men lash the man's body to the back of the tank. He is determined to keep his promise and take the Captain to Paris. With the battle finally over and Paris liberated, Jeb and the others bring the Captain's body inside Notre Dame and pay their last respects. Jeb has kept his promise and the young Captain was able to see Paris like he had dreamed to, posthumously. History doesn't record that in the jubilant victory parade for General Leclerc's free French armored force was a lone and battered Haunted Tank and its ghostly guardian. Social/Sharing |

Glad to see you expand beyond TIE fighters.
I went to Sainte-Mère-Église about 20 years ago to see the hedgerows in Normandy. Did not see any ghosts, but it did feel haunted.

Wow, that's cool, Tom! Was there a bustle in the hedgerows? If there was, don't worry about it. It was probably just a sprinkling for the may queen.
Congrats on acquiring a fun War page that connects you to your dad, Jeff. I wish I could've had that.

Dark lines in a dangerous France you are a battlefield killer
We pass by the Notre Dame you are a (battlefield killer)
You don't have a knife, you have blood on Glanzman
You can sleep at night, Jeb I don't understand
I don't know much about you are a Haunted Tank
You can haunt my page and I'll be a around
Maybe I'll let you shoot Germans
'Cause you're a battlefield killer with a battlefield page
A battlefield killer and you go liberate
Do you know the reasons why you are a battlefield killer?
Hurt LeClerc but you never die, you are a (battlefield killer)
I like your ghost effect when you stand mon ami
When the tanks arrive you can thank Normandy
Makes me wanna pray for a haunted tank
