Description

Dave's spin on Matthew the Raven from the Sandman books. He seemed to like this one quite a bit since he expressed that when my wife and I were getting a picture with the three commissions this year. Probably doesn't hurt that he is a bird watcher and has done birds for us in the past as well.

Thanks to Scott for continuing on with Allen Spiegel Fine Arts being at SDCC this year, and Dave for taking the time to create this piece.

McKean's work continues to inspire taking Fine Arts into the comics narrative! I heard it might be his last time coming over to the States which made this SDCC even more special.

Wow! Stunning piece by Dave McKean! The Raven has been such a consistent element of the Sandman series. It's fascinating to see Dave painting it in such a realistic style. Love all the detail he put into the bird and its delicate feathers. Interesting to see that juxtaposed against the rough texture of the background. Fantastic commission, congrats!
