DescriptionNo idea what the book is, who the author is and hadn't heard of the artist....but I love the image. From the description: This is the original painting created by Dave Pether (1943-2021) that was used to illustrate the cover of "Guns at Cassino" by well-known author of WWII books, Leo Kessler (pen name of Charles Whiting) - for the vintage paperback edition published by Futura, 1974. Handpainted in gouache and acrylic on illustration board in "wraparound" format, 11.25" x 17" and carries a label on the back signed by the artist's widow/executor attesting to authenticity (Pether rarely if ever signed his illustrations). Incredible muzzle flash to highlight the power of the tank cannons! For a war cover, this painting puts you right in the front lines!
