Description

Preceeding the Depression Era "Lucky Bucks" play money shown in this gallery were "Comic Stamps". Mickey Mouse did not appear in color in a full comic strip until Jan. 10, 1932. Down below we find a large topper section to the 12/13/31 Sunday page. Copyrighted by King Features Syndicate. The art was penciled by Floyd Gottfredson for the October 18, 1930 daily strip in the "Mr. Slicker and the Egg Robbers" story. The stamp does not show the whole panel which includes Mickey's suicide attempt. Found in Vol.one of Walt Disney's Mickey Mouse by Floyd Gottfredson. Maybe inked by Hardy Gramatky, Earl Duvall, Ted Thwaites or Al Taliaferro. UNFORTUNATELY I have misplaced my comic stamp album issued by one of the many newspapers who took part in this promotion. It is filled with postage stamps of Mickey's many friends.
