Description

Super early Tim Truman work for SPI Games. Here’s a quote by Tim from his website: “I enrolled in the Joe Kubert School of Cartoon and Graphic Art in New Jersey from which I graduated with Dean's List Honors in 1981. The day after my graduation, I went to New York City and came away with my first professional assignments from SPI, a publisher of fantasy role playing games. I continued to work in the fantasy game field for about three years, most notably as a staff illustrator for TSR Hobbies, the creators of ‘Dungeon's and Dragons.’”

Interesting fact: SPI ran out of cash in early 1982 when TSR called in a loan secured by SPI's assets. TSR began selling SPI's inventory in 1982, but later acquired the company's trademarks and copyrights in 1983 and continued a form of the operation until 1987.

At the height of the fantasy RPG craze. They had those RPG stores with pewter figures at the mall and they didn't even need to carry comics nor video games. Truman could illustrate with clear vision and imagination that would be more than the quality expected. Great curved look of the horns and sword to lead the eye across.
