DescriptionIt's no secret that Nightwing is probably, next to Batman, my favorite character at DC Comics. In more ways than one, he feels like DC's Daredevil. An acrobat street hero with consistent great runs by great talent. I've loved so man era's of Dick Grayson - New 52, Rebirth, Taylor, but near the top must always be: Dixon-McDaniel.Interestingly, I received an alert for a commission that I had recently seen posted on Facebook and was being sold through a dealer now at quite a mark-up. It got me to reminisce over that run and I sent an email to Scott. We talked a bit and set up this vignette commission. He was kind enough to go completely overboard and impressed me with what could have been a cover on his Nightwing run. The whole process was an absolute breeze. Scott communicated fast and clearly. Additionally, he was kind enough to add a letter to the package and mentioned that "creating this art was like old times drawing Nightwing's adventures in Bludhaven.". For a full breakdown, I'll leave that to the master: "Compositionally, the low camera puts Nightwing in a superior position, relative to the viewer, creating the iconic 'hero shot'. He is acrobatically moving across the rooftops, his path captured by the multiple figures. The brick and concrete buildings loom above, giving heavy weight to his native habitat. And of course, we have a full moon with a stream of bats that are a nod to his Bat pedigree." A 10 out of 10 McDaniel Nightwing and I'm honored to have this. Size is 11x17. Social/Sharing |

No just an acrobat, but McDaniel also understands Nightwing as a circus performer with these moves and a smile done for showmanship!

Can't beat the multiple-images-to-convey movement! Not one, not two, not seven Nightwings here! Love the touch of adding the bats, too. Congrats, man!

Beautiful piece! What was the process like with Scott? I've been trying to get a piece from him with little luck. I sent an inital email that he replied to, then sent what I was looking to get done and haven't heard back for a few weeks.
Hopefully I hear something soon though. The quality of his work is incredible!

Great avatar! Happy to see a fellow Ben Reilly fan. Got a few pieces on him, that you may enjoy seeing in a gallery here.
Regarding Scott, that's strange. For me, this experience was the prime example of how communication should be. He sent emails almost daily when he had updates and it was a very strong collaborative process. Hope it works out for you!
