Description

Daan Jippes made this 7-pager story in 2010 based on Carl Barks' 8-pager from 1945, done for Our Gang comic book #17. Then presenting Barney Bear and Benny Burro in "Water Divining Rod". Jippes adopted it for Donald Duck's Cousin Gus.

To have a bit of visual candy, in the additional photos is presented Jippes' originals next to the printed Barks' artwork in its original size. To compare plots and rhythm of the stories artists created. Jippes' artwork is huge! Half-pages are A3, and so were Barks' artwork too.

Kim Weston recently published a lavish book presenting Barks' MGM stories in the original size Barks made them. These pages are directly from the proofs. The book is massive, about A2+ size! The biggest comic book ever done. These Barney Bear & Benny Burro stories were originally published in Our Gang Comics #11-23. This second volume measures 18 inches wide and 26 inches tall and weighs in at about 8 pounds! Looking at these pages as printed in this book is like looking at the pages fresh from the master’s drawing board!
