Continuing to explore the far corners of the DCU.

The Freedom Fighters!

I never read much of the Freedom Fighters. I only knew of them from issues of All-Star Squadron (a title I only picked up sporadically). They were from Earth X where Germany won WWII and they were still fighting Nazi's. Lead by Uncle Sam the team consisted of Uncle Sam, Doll Man, Black Condor, The Ray, Human Bomb and Phantom Lady.

Picked this up because it's the page one splash (oddly enough this issue had no story title, the story title comes from promotional text in the Comic Reader and Amazing World of DC Comics.) and for the Ramona Fradon art. I have this cool Aquaman piece but it's always great to have another published Fradon piece.

The inking credit is a bit of a mystery, as there are no other credits for "Juan Canale." It is believed that Vince Colletta inked the issue but for some unknown reason was not credited.

Yes, it's always fun to see more of Ramona Fradon's work. Btw, for the absolute best Freedom Fighters work ever done, check out the series from a few years ago by Eddy Barrows if you haven't already.

DC's equivalent to the Invaders! Fradon draws this to be set in the 1940's with her art that handled this team better than most artists on team books.
