If you've never had the pleasure of seeing the work of Jason Shawn Alexander you've been visually deprived.

Jason produces some of the most consistently stunning art I've ever seen in modern comic art. His work includes titles such as Spawn, Nita Hawes' Nightmare Blog, Killadelphia, The Magic Order, American Jesus, The Empty Zone, Standstill, Frostbite, Detective Comics, Gotham Central, Adventure Comics, Kneel Before Zod, Arrow, various other Batman properties, Dead Irons (Dynamite Entertainment), The Shadow and Alice Cooper.

But I first fell in love with his art in the pages of Dark Horse Comics' The Escapists. This spin-off series by Brian K. Vaughan is an homage to Michael Chabon's book "The Amazing Adventures of Kavalier & Clay" which features The Escapist!

The juxtaposition of art styles throughout this book makes Jason stand out with the main story being in typical cartoon style but the "Escapist" scenes rendered in dark, inky bombastic art that you can't help but grit your teeth at.

For years I've been itching for a page from this series and I was finally able to get my hands on this one.

On this page we see the Escapist underwater and bound by chains processing his doubts in an inner monologue motivating and inspiring him to break out of his current predicament.

The page is huge! Clocking in at 24"x16" it has monster wall presence and is a daily reminder to persevere even at the toughest times.

Poster one sheet effect by JSA with the acts of the Escapist to inspire one to look within to break free of the shackles of what holding you down! It's not a mistake that's the largest of the panels on this page.

I just love the imagery in this page,nice pick-up.Jason is a very humble guy and it was great to meet him some months back !
