Description

Mage was always one of my favourite books, especially the first series. An eye opener in those early days of creator-owned comics, a gateway drug if you like into that larger world, as well as that of the creators - Matt was one of the first I got to know properly after he came over to a show in London in 1988. I was neither monied nor sensible enough to buy original pages then but I have one now....beautiful panels, great storytelling....

Congrats! This is a great page. I still hope to one day pick up an original page from The Hero Discovered or Batman/Grendel, but they seldom come up for sale (probably because the owners have a personal attachment to them).

Wowie zowie - congrats on an all-timer, Malcolm! Great panel structure and storytelling throughout, but that tall Myrth panel? Absolutely sublime and indelibly etched into my brain (as it is, I'm sure, in yours, and many, many others' as well)! So many elements of this series were flat-out magic, and it seems they all were focused on (and in service of) the -story- above all else. Chief among them were Sam Keith's inks. Love the choices he made here (you can see the pencils that were left unrealized) to keep things rolling along and the readers' attentions focused on the moment between our two leads here. Beautiful, beautiful work, Malcolm - congrats on adding this wonder to your gallery!
