Description

I was reading Cerebus back in the early-to-mid 80s and thought myself very clever to be doing so. My biggest comic art regret is selling a Cerebus Pope commission which was gifted to me around that same time. After I went off to college, I stopped reading comic books and missed out on all the later Cerebus convolutions and controversy. Despite all of that, I retain a soft spot for the character and especially the artwork. Hitting a dead end in attempts to re-acquire the old commission despite occasional heart-felt pleas to its owner, I resolved to someday purchase another Sim/Gerhard piece, perhaps an actual published page. And that day has finally arrived. I love panel pages with no speech or thought bubbles where the art tells the story, and such is the case here. Poor Cerebus, falling once again into a difficult situation of his own making....

Great page! It shows off what Sim and Gerhard each did best! That last panel looks to have been severely beaten by Gerhard's inks with intense lashes of work!
