DescriptionDay 27. Thirty-one days of Star Wars (2025 edition). This issue marks the first appearance of the Nagai, who will go on to be the major villains until the end of the Marvel run (except for the last issue when they abruptly become allies to our heroes against a common third enemy). The first of the Nagai we are introduced to is this issue's villain and he goes by "Knife" as his name in his native tongue is to hard for anyone to pronounce. Also, he's out to enslave the home world of the Wookiees and Chewie's brother-in-law is helping him! Han, Chewie, and Lando walk in right in the middle of the whole scheme and get captured. On this page, Knife drags Chewbacca out to break the city's spirit. Inside, Han and Lando, shackled but defiant, start plotting their escape. Tony Salmons worked as cover artist and penciler for this issue, the only one he worked on from the series. Was very pleased to add example of his Star Wars work to my collection. This is the May! Put them in binders? and put guards on them to watch? Must restrain myself... keep this site PG... I know I have a pair of binders laying around here somewhere. Ahhh... I use them for work. Yea. Work. That's right.

Very cool and rare page of Tony Salmons Star Wars art from this issue! That shot in panel 2 almost feels like certain Frankenstein's monster haircuts haha. I really like the way Tony draws Lando especially too like we see in panel 5. Congrats!

If I had a flat head I would certainly go for this cut just to creep people out while standing in lines!

I got my old Palmer in the bid Nagai
He seemed so glad to see me, it’s got Knife
And we talked about Salmon lines, and we drank ourselves some beers
Still Tony after all these years
Oh, still Tony after all these years
I'm not the kind of fan who tends to need allies
I seem to lean on old familiar page
And I ain't no fool for love songs that brother in law hears
Still Wookiee after all these years
Oh, still Wookie after all these years
All in lock picking
Scoundrels, yawning
Longing my life escape
I'll never worry
Why should Knife?
It's Chewbacca’s fate
Han, I sit by my Lando and I watch the art
I fear I'll do some bondage one fine day
But I would not be convicted by the Wookiee of my peers
Still Chewie after all these years
Oh, still crazy
Still Chewie
Still Chewie after all these years

Even with the change of lyrics and topics, I still picture Mr. Simon singing this in the turkey costume.

Again, whether Tony Salmons, Walt Simonson, Gene Day or Ron frenz, for all intents and purposes, the penciller is the same. Consistency was the name of Palmer's game!
