Description

Here is my latest published piece related to Conan. In early 2024, the kind people at Heroic Signatures, whom I met at NYCC 2023, reached out to me to draw a story for Savage Sword of Conan. Unfortunately, this opportunity came right as I had begun work on my own creator-owned book. As you can imagine, it was a huge disappointment because drawing Conan has been one of my biggest dreams as a comic book artist.
Nonetheless, Heroic Signatures offered me the chance to do a pin-up for Savage Sword of Conan. When I submitted my thumbnails, I created four different versions. The editorial team and I quickly realized that more than one of these pieces was worth publishing. One of them featured Conan battling a giant, tentacled monster, which ended up as the cover for Conan the Barbarian: Battle of the Black Stone. Little did I know that the actual storyline would include Lovecraftian elements�it felt like it was meant to be.
Another one of the pieces was chosen for Savage Sword of Conan. I really enjoy drawing gigantic, monkey-like monsters, so this was a lot of fun to create. I hope you enjoy this pin-up, and I look forward to more Conan-related assignments in the future.
Materials used: pencils, inks, white-out, and screen tones on approximately 15x21�/14x20� paper.
