I picked this up from Anthony Snyder's website last year. It seems like Anthony bought a huge batch of rough work and prelims off of Barry at Baltimore Comic-Con, and once he started listing them for sale I knew it was only a matter of time before a Legion piece showed up! I'm not sure exactly what this Lightning Lad piece is a prelim to (or, I guess, if it's even a prelim at all), but it has a similar style to other Kitson pieces I know are prelims for sure. If anyone knows, do drop me a line!

This piece features Barry's design for Lightning Lad that he created for his run on the Threeboot Legion. I've always enjoyed how the design draws from all of Garth's past costumes, and unifies everything with that lightning-pattern trim. And even though it's just a prelim, Barry's art is still absolutely fantastic! I love how he rendered the blast of lightning as if it's so bright you can only really begin to make out the lightning itself around the edges, and the way it's surging down Garth's left arm, almost blending into the trim of his suit.

He's working out the lightning powers and finding what balances out the composition to the arm on the other side. The finishing touch is there from Kitson so he worked out a lot more in this drawing.
